MOUTH PIECES

This is the first CD by the band Mixed Economy

It mixes five quartet performances of original written material which act as vehicles to be opened out into free blowing solos with the focus on interplay, mainly between the saxophone and the trombone.

One track, Walk/Talk is a freely improvised duo for bass and saxophone and Sitting on a Sea Wall in an Urban Manner is a solo improvisation for saxophone.

The two poems, Mixed Economy Blues and Still Life (with Barstool) written and read by Richard Hillesley, have an improvised backing. There is one jazz standard, a quartet version of the Sonny Rollins tune, Doxy.
