Dropping out of Art College "because there weren't enough musicians", Coach spent his youth in various jazz/rock/funk/progressive bands in and around Northampton and what became Milton Keynes.

Professional work came from touring the nightclubs of Britain and Europe in various American soul bands, then a recording deal with a reggae/ska band and more touring.

Moving to Devon in the eighties led to a substantial amount of jazz, working with most of the South West's finest players and many visiting London players. Coach has worked with Mick and Bob in various line-ups for about twenty-five years, and is also currently working with Alan Barnes, Charlie Hearnshaw, Craig Milverton and a brand new, as yet unnamed blues band, although the free improvisation arm beckons occasionally.
